So here I am again...
This is probably the fourth or fifth time I'm creating a brand new blog just for the feeling of starting fresh and new. All my other previous blogs have fallen into disuse.
A good friend of mine and I are constantly chatting throughout the day to break-up the monotony of work. He's about 300 miles away and I think it's really cool that we can communicate from our workstations using Pidgin. We're geeks/nerds of sorts, but our chats span a wide range of topics, issues, annoyances, etc. That being said, the urge to be creative... to write... to conceptualize... to publish... sometimes hits with such overwhelming force that an outlet must be found.
And so begins an extension of my "30-Day Challenge". Basically, the "30-Day Challenge" is to choose something to do everyday for 30 days. It's as simple as that. If you want to learn more, I'm sure you could Google "30-Day Challenge" to get more details.
So, I opened up a brand new Moleskine and wrote the following on the inside cover: "30-Day Challenge: Write at least one creative sentence everyday for the next 30 days". That was 22 days ago... and I'm happy to report that I've managed to maintain the challenge. In fact, my Moleskine has blossomed into a mish-mash of ideas, possible sentences for stories, dreams, musings, thoughts, and drivel.
I mention the "30-Day Challenge" because I am using it as a springboard for the creation of this new blog. My challenge to myself is this: "Do something blog-related at least once a month". At first, I was thinking: "Publish a new blog at least once a month", but I don't think I'd be able to do that (yet). As much as I'd love to tap into my inner muse more often, I find that life's many distractions can easily lead me astray. Thus, this challenge allows for a much broader interpretation. I can jot down ideas, start rough drafts, update previous blogs, etc. In starting this new blog, I've already fulfilled the challenge for the month of January 2012.
So we'll see where this blog goes. I will tell one (1) person about it. At the same time, I like the idea that it's out on the Internet with millions of other blogs, and yet it's unique. It's mine. And what are the chances of someone stumbling across it if I've told just one person about it?
